In a game at burnmoor one saturday in the sixties,george bull was bowling at the church hall end,full tilt[ that means quite fast] the delivery was just short of a good length,[which bull was good at]it reared up ,and on its way to vic hanson wkt keeper, itjust struck the batsman on the forehead,vic caught the ball ,shouted HOWZAT. not out said the umpy,vic gently threw the ball to me to return it to the bowler,the batsmen collapsed ,with a lot of blood about his face,with good reason,i looked at the ball,his full eyebrow plus flesh had been removed,and was wrapped round the seam of the ball. who says cricket a soft game ? bill atkinson [1st slip].
