A review of South Tyneside Magistrates' Court by Phil Doneghan written on Sunday 19th of August 2012
I read with despair at the leniency shown to what can be only described as a thug who beat up his girlfriend, then while on bail for that offence, He then repeatedly punched the woman – who he has a young daughter with – and stamped on her head and, when one of the victim’s friends tried to help, he hit her as well, before stealing her phone and running out.
The magistrate put him on an electronic tag with a curfew of 7:00pm-7:00am, leaving him 12 hours to roam the streets & behave in a manner that he see's fit, because no doubt he feels untouchable. Mr Stephen Brady was the chairman of the bench, I would like to see him give an account as to why this person was to walk free, given the fact he committed 2 accounts of domestic violence. Lets hope (& that's all we can do) this thug does not do this again. .
